85 Years of Married Bliss Possible!

My hub buddy BRIAN says that he thought that no one could break his in-laws (nah.. they're not monsters-in-law) 55 year marriage. I guess that was until he read the story of Herbert and Zelmyra Fisher who have been married for the last 85 years.. yes, I did say 85 years. They're both in their youthful 100 plus and they're very real people who say that they truly loved each other. This coming May, the couple will celebrate their 85 wedding anniversary and both are strong and would probably outlive Methuselah -- I would bet that their longevity secret is called LOVE. They were each other's "first love" and BOTH haven't even thought of the idea of existing with anyone else aside from their  partners. Now, remember that these are century old human beings -- and it was fashionable to be faithful to your wife/husband during those days.

My heart however goes out to another tale of two 90 year olds who weren't in love (okay, that was an understatement) anymore. I guess age creeps in.. you begin seeing your partner everyday, and you wish that he would disappear at times. Things like these do happen. Anyway, today my Google Buzz was alive over the news that a 91 year old woman from Sidney, Australia was arrested by the police for killing her 98 year old husband. SOMETHING tells me that perhaps this was a case of senile lunacy and I am certainly against putting that old woman in jail. Maybe she didn't even know she killed him.. but seems she did. I have no idea why, as you can see, the news had enough sensitivity to NOT disclose the old woman's name.. but for some reason, I think that her murder was a "mistake". Maybe she thought he was a thief or "someone else"...
I mean how can two married people in their nineties STAND each after after so many years if they didn't love each other in the first place?

Anyway, there is more reason to rejoice over Herbert and Zelmyra Fisher than trying to figure out how a 91-year old woman sniffed out her 98 year old husband. I am not saying murder here, because for some reason, maybe she killed the wrong man?
